Wireless TV Headphones for Hearing Aids
Nancy asked
” How do these work for someone with hearing loss? My mother is 88 and wears hearing aids. She can’t watch TV even if the volume is turned up due to the background noise.”
Good question.
The beauty of wireless headphones for TV for someone with hearing loss is that they don’t need to wear their hearing aid when they are watching TV, they can simply take out their hearing aid and put on the headphones for TV use. Normally, the volume can be controlled with an attachment near the headphones.
The downside is that if someone is really reliant on their hearing aid for normal hearing use, then obviously they probably won’t be able to hear anything other than the sound that is coming from their wireless TV headphones when they are using them.
Some companies do offer an infrared RF wireless clip-on receiver which connects to a hearing aid and transmits the TV sound via a connection cable or an induction neck loop.
I would suggest the best option is something like the Sennheiser SET810 Wireless Headphones, which is a wireless IR TV listening system specifically designed for people who use hearing aids. The transmitter connects directly to the TV or other device such as a stereo, and the small receiver easily clips to clothing and has a large, easy to use volume control.
